NEW ARTIST: Steffaloo - Would You Stay (2012)

LA-based singer-songrwiter Steph Thompson aka Steffaloo is a so-to-say rising star on the sky of female songwriters. No newbie to the business, she already took path in beautiful co-productions such as with Blackbird Blackbird, Teen Daze and Sun Glitters. And, if you follow The Circumflex on Facebook, you could also already listen to the beautiful cover of Mazzy Star’s Fade Into You she did with UK-based producer Stumbleine.

It is nonetheless the first time Thompson really seems to continously follow her own paths, having a new solo LP up her sleeve which is going to be released on October 23rd via Mush Records. A pretty pretaste is the ex ante released single Would You Stay, a beautiful acoustic piece which reminds me a lot of the first works of Feist. Nothing else than a nicely strung acoustic guitar, accompanied by Steffaloo’s vocals which seem to be floating on this weightless yet so fragile musical ground. An artist to watch out for!
